Ken was one of my early committee chairs and a mentor during the days when I was one of very few non-physicians actively involved as an ACEP committee and faculty member. During that time he chaired both the Reimbursement Committee and the Coding Committees of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Ken was honored with the James Mills award for outstanding contribution to emergency medicine, the College’s second highest honor, which he richly deserved.
He is perhaps best known for his work with the American Medical Association’s CPT Editorial Panel, and for his years of teaching ACEP Reimbursement and Coding courses. My colleague was a quiet, brilliant man with a wicked sense of humor that made so memorable the many days we shared while serving together on the ACEP faculty.
A unique individual and luminary in the emergency medicine community, Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
